Movies that Will Give You the Travel Bug

Updated: Jul 28, 2020

With all the movies and shows available now a-days, it can be difficult to find the perfect movie to watch when you are itching for a certain something. The following list, though far from comprehensive, includes just a few movies I suggest you watch if you are in a wanderlust mood.

Harry Potter series: These movies are highly recommended at ANY time.

Leap Year: A little bit funny, a little bit romantic, and lots of breathtaking scenes of Irish cliffs.

Gnomeo and Juliet: A fun adaptation of a Shakespeare classic. I would suggest this movie just for the music.

Notting Hill: Simply lovely.

Four Weddings and a Funeral: It will make you laugh, cry and hope in two hours’ time.

Brooklyn: A nostalgic watch that will make you want to go back home (not all travel has to be someplace new).

Secret Life of Walter Mitty: The soundtrack is amazing and immediately fills you with motivation to buy a plane ticket.

Under the Tuscan Sun: Inspirational and not too sappy. Two Grey’s Anatomy stars make an appearance!

The Bourne Series: Mixes a sense of adventure with everyone's childhood dream of becoming a spy.

The Librarian: Shows the power books and learning hold!

The Wedding Date: You will be able to watch this over and over again without tiring of it.

The Holiday: Though it is a Christmas movie, I would watch it at any time of year.

Midnight in Paris: Amazing plot! Perfect for aspiring writers.

Monte Carlo: This is guaranteed to give you the travel bug.

Mamma Mia: “You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life.”

Love, Rosie: Relatable, funny and romantic. All my friends I have suggested this to ended up loving the movie!

P.S. I Love You: Watch with caution! It is a tear-jerker.

Hopefully you will find a new favorite among this list! Put on one of these amazing movies, curl up under a blanket with a hot cuppa and have yourself a good night!

Wishing you warm drinks and new adventures,

Maria
